Summary: Whereas, The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation is located in Piscataway, New Jersey with a mission of providing education, health, and developmental supports for youth; and

Whereas, The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation has agreed to deliver academic enrichment, recreational and social services to children and families of 9th grade cohorts, not to exceed 250 students annually for a period of four years; and

Whereas, The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation will provide a Financial Literacy Program with the primary goal of reversing the negative wealth trajectory in Black and Brown communities through building students’ awareness around financial literacy; and

Whereas, the The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation - Financial Literacy Program is a four-year commitment of up to $40,000 to provide seed money for students to open bank accounts of $40.00 each.
Funding : $40,000
Recommendation to the Board: Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, the Newark Board of Education approves the Memorandum of Understanding between the district and The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation.
